The term 'vivisection' is used to apply to all types of experiments on living animals like the administration of noxious substances, burns, electric or traumatic shocks, drawn-out deprivations of food and drink, psychological tortures leading to mental imbalance, whether or not cutting is done. Vivisectors claim that experimenting on animals is for the benefit of mankind which in my point of view is BULLSHIT.
Animals are different from humans and from each other. We can't compare ourselves with animals as we are genetically, psychologially, emotionally, sexually, socially and anatomically different from them. That is why
human medicine cannot be based on veterinary medicine.
Apart from failing to reveal many of the hazards of drugs "tested" on animals, such "tests" might also lead to the rejection of potentially valuable medicines because they produce side-effects in animals which never occur in people. It's bad science, producing a lot of misleading and confusing data which pose hazards to human health. It's also a waste of money(which comes from taxes) to take healthy animals and artificially and violently induce diseases in them that they normally wouldn't get, or which occur in different form, when we already have the sick people who can be studied while they're being treated.
Slavery, murder, and rape are considered among the worst crimes imaginable and we prohibit people from hurting, killing, or enslaving other humans because we recognize that health and freedom exists not just in ourselves, but in all humans. It is for this reason that humans should not force other innocent, non-human animal species into research experiments which involve captivity, injury, or death.
They, like us, share our urge to survive and remain free from injury.
They, like us, share our urge to be free to move about.
Animal experimentation inevitably leads to human experimentation. That is the final verdict, sad as it is. And the toll mounts on both sides. Its like a double-edged sword.
